About the programme

Aerospace Engineering will introduce you to a true breadth of aviation maintenance engineering activities, with a view to progressing in engineering or general management. Covering everything from aircraft systems, airworthiness and air safety management to human factors in aviation, you’ll make a real impact across this two-year learning experience.

Aerospace Engineering at Babcock

The possibilities are incredibly varied; it all depends on how you want to develop your career. In the first year, you’ll be placed in operations management or engineering operations, either in military or civil aviation services. You’ll develop knowledge of aviation compliance, safety management processes and the safe delivery of aviation services. In the second year, you could be placed into broader business management roles. They could include working with our international supply chain, business development, strategy and capabilities, bidding for new business, contract management or programme management. Whatever you find yourself doing, you’ll be supported all the way.

What you'll need

  • An honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering is vital
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of both health and safety and quality management
  • To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may need to complete a medical assessment)
  • Multilingual skills and international experience are hugely valuable to us, as is a willingness to undertake international placements – highlight these within your CV and application form

What you'll get

When you’re part of the team at Babcock, we think it’s only right that you’re properly rewarded for the contribution you make and the hard work you put in. That’s why, in addition to a highly competitive salary, you can look forward to generous pension and employee share schemes, and a whole host of other flexible benefits. These include things like access to our healthcare cash plan, Wellbeing Centre and discounts on everything from gym membership and travel to retail, dining and entertainment. You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our STEM outreach and volunteering activities, which our graduates find incredibly rewarding in all sorts of other ways.

Your career development

We are now partnering with an award-winning training provider to deliver a cutting-edge, technology-focused graduate development programme that can be tailored to your individual needs and career aspirations.

Here, you’ll get to see aviation from an engineering, customer, compliance, commercial, contractual and financial perspective. Bring your knowledge and credibility as an Aeronautical Engineer and we’ll help you become an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with a recognised professional engineering institution. And after the programme, you will be firmly in line for management roles throughout Babcock.

Next year, we are also looking to introduce a fast-track graduate programme for outstanding performers and those with the potential to become future leaders within the business.
