Some of our projects span multiple markets, multiple locations and multiple clients. That takes some clever coordination. But on our two-year Business Operations Management programme (in our Mission Systems business unit, it’s a four-year programme), you’ll learn exactly how we do it. You’ll see how we break the complex down into clear steps and ensure everything happens when it should.

Business Operations Management at Babcock

The possibilities are many and varied. You might be spotting strategic opportunities for a diverse range of customers to save money. Equally, you might be managing product or service development projects, or helping us land our next multi-million pound contract. You’ll be a key team member on every placement and have ownership of critical tasks.

What you'll need

  • An (Hons) degree in a business-related subject.
  • Our work spans across a number of UK and international contracts, so multilingual skills and a willingness to undertake international placements are hugely valuable to us – please highlight these within your CV and application form.
  • Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.

Where you'll be based

See below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Business Operations Management programme for Autumn 2024. You can experience placements across our UK business, as well as some of our international business areas. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

Our Land sector support the British Army by contributing to front-line support, delivering the capability they need, available to them wherever, whenever and however they need it. We ensure the British Army can focus on their missions safely by supporting their vehicles, both armoured and white fleet with skilled engineers and capability backed by long-term through-life engineering expertise.

We enable our defence and emergency services customers to do their job with our technical training programmes. We combine deep understanding and long-term commitment with constructive challenge. An embedded partner, focussed on outcomes. Globally, new defence and resilience equipment programmes and asset modernisation programmes are seeing a resurgence. Training personnel is a critical component to support these programmes. Our graduates have the opportunity to work across multiple industries in the sector, gaining valuable insight into how we help different customers to overcome their particular challenges.

Whilst we have locations throughout the UK, graduates tend to be based in our Greater London, Midlands or Scottish locations, though you will need to be ready and willing to move to other sites throughout your programme.

Our Marine – Mission Systems business, based in Bristol, forms a critical part of Babcock’s Marine organisation. Working across a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, our 1,500 strong team operate from a number of sites across the UK and internationally ensuring our global customer portfolio is always supported.

Your home base will be Bristol, but some of your placements may be at other Babcock locations.
