About the programme

We’re based at 249 sites across the UK – and many more around the world. That means we have a lot of major infrastructure to maintain. On this two-year programme, you’ll gain insight into all our core activities, including service delivery, project management, procurement, security, strategic development, ERP systems, and software and asset management.

Data Analytics at Babcock

Our information support and exploitation teams help the most critical parts of our business to make decisions when they count. Working within the Analytics stream, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, building your core IX/IM capabilities, as well as developing broader skills along the way. Capability areas include: mathematical modelling and simulation, advanced statistical analysis, predictive analysis, web development, data visualisation, information-related technology development and strategy development. Along the way, you’ll partner up with a lot of different teams within Babcock and learn from them as you go.

What you'll need

  • 2:1 (Hons) degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operational Research and/or Computer Science
  • To be able to satisfy the MoD’s security requirements (you may also need to complete a medical assessment)

Where you'll be based

See below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Data Analytics programme for Autumn 2021. No matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

Our Information Services graduates are based in Lakeside near Portsmouth. However, as you may need to travel to any one of over 249 UK Babcock sites, you need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme.

Whatever you want to specialise in, from machine learning to software development, we can tailor your placements to maximise the time you spend with the relevant team in our Portsmouth office. Cyber Security is critical to Babcock’s interests, and if you want to focus on digital forensics or cyber defences we have a team of in-house experts you could work with. You’ll also work with a range of teams throughout IT, including opportunities to rotate through our Sector teams in other offices. This means that you’ll be able to take what you’ve learnt in your degree and put it into action.

Our business in Plymouth supports the UK Royal Navy in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and sustaining critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

Depending on your programme your home base could be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. However, some of your placements may be at other Marine sector locations.

Our business in Keynsham is a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by sustaining the submarines through life with updates, design and documentation, upgrade and overhauls. We are developing innovative Operations Centres, novel repair techniques, technology insertion programmes, predictive data analytics and visualisation and training aids using games engine technologies.

Your home base will be the Keynsham office in Bristol, but some of your placements may be at other locations.
